About the Symposium

The University of Wisconsin (UW)-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) Human Proteomics Program (HPP) and UW Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) are pleased to present the 2026 Wisconsin Human Proteomics Symposium. The theme of this year's symposium is Empowering the Next Generation of Scientists.

This symposium will bring together trainees, faculty, staff scientists, clinicians, and industry researchers for a full day of scientific exchange, career development, and networking. The morning program will focus on career development, featuring short talks from both academia, national labs and industry followed by a panel discussion. The afternoon program will highlight research through keynote lectures, rising star presentations, and a poster session.

This year's program will feature 2 keynote presentations, a career development session, and 6-8 rising star talks. The symposium will showcase cutting-edge proteomics technologies, including advances in mass spectrometry-based proteomics, top-down proteomics, native mass spectrometry, mass spectrometry imaging, and complementary multi-omics approaches. Speakers will highlight how these innovative technologies are transforming biomedical research and advancing our understanding of human diseases, including neurodegenerative disorders, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and lung disease. We anticipate broad participation from academia, industry, and clinical research, with many opportunities for discussion and intermingling.

In addition to showcasing exciting science, the symposium is designed to support the professional development of trainees and early-career investigators by creating opportunities for mentorship, visibility, and discussion across career stages and disciplines.
