Minimum Years of Work and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

The successful candidate should have at least 2-3 years of hands-on experience in HPLC/MS and biological sample handling. Excellent oral and written communications skills are essential. Ability to work with a large number of students and researchers with varied background is required.

Primary Duties:

We are looking for an individual to be an active participant in research projects in the new Mass Spectrometry Core Facility. This individual will work closely with students and researchers on a variety of exciting and challenging projects to develop and apply cutting-edge mass spectrometry based proteomics technologies to biomedical research, such as cardiovascular and clinical proteomics. Duties include preparing biological (clinical and non-clinical) samples, performing analysis using capillary LC/MS or other proteomics technologies (e.g. 1D/2D gel electrophoresis, western blot, IEF, etc.), participating in setting up the new facility, compiling and processing data, and daily operating and maintaining mass spectrometer and HPLC systems. In addition, the individual will be required to perform general lab management duties including ordering of supplies, chemical inventory and maintaining sample tracking databases.
